Administration fully geared up for free, fair Lok Sabha polls: DC

District administration Jalandhar has fully geared up for the parliamentary elections in 2024 as all preliminary arrangements have been made by the administration for free and fair elections.

Deputy commissioner cum DEO Jalandhar Mr. Vishesh Sarangal today taking part in the VC with ECI along with SSP Mukhwinder singh Bhullar, DCP Ankur Gupta, ADCs, ROs, has said that the district administration has all set for smooth conduct of Lok Sabha polls.

He said that the Jalandhar parliament constituency has nearly 16.17 lakh voters which will use their democratic right at 1951 polling booths.

Has also said that district-level and assembly constituency-level MCC teams have already been constituted under the Commissioner Municipal Corporation to implement the Model code of conduct in true spirit and manner. Besides that C- Vigil monitoring teams and IT teams have also been constituted.

Mr. Sarangal also informed  that to provide necessary approvals to candidates in an easy manner, the Suwidha permission team at the DEO and ARO level with nodal officers has also been deputed.

To keep a hawk-eye on expenditure during the election, FST, SST, and VVT teams would work round the clock besides ensuring web casting monitoring at the booth level for more transparency in the voting process.

Advocating to strengthen the SVEEP activities in the district, Mr. Sarangal has asked the officials to increase the daily activities to achieve the target of more than 70 % polling in the election.

He said that youth especially those falling in the age group of 18-19 must be encouraged to play a significant role in voting.

DEO also said that district-level complaint monitoring teams and District level media monitoring teams have also been constituted.

Meanwhile, SSP Jalandhar( Rural) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar and DCP Ankur Gupta informed that arms deposition arrangements have been made besides making adequate security arrangements.

Later on, the Deputy commissioner also visited the Director land records office in Jalandhar to check the proposed counting centres.

He asked the officials to work with dedication for the smooth conduct of parliamentary polls as it’s the biggest festival of democracy in the country.

Prominent amongst those present included ADC Amit Mahajan, ADC Lakhwinder singh, and all returning officers.
