The rural police have taken strong action against illegal mining, resulting in the registration of 14 cases and the arrest of 12 culprits in the past year.
SSP Jalandhar Rural Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar stated that the rural police teams, in collaboration with the Mining Department, are keeping a close eye on the Sutlej River to prevent illegal mining. They regularly conduct raids based on tips to arrest those involved in these activities.
The Phillaur police station registered 10 cases, while the Bilga police station registered four. The police have seized several tractors/trolleys, one Proclaim machine, two JCBs, and tippers.
SSP Bhullar added that the police are working diligently on the legal front to punish the accused in mining cases as per the law. He has entrusted the DSPs with ensuring the timely presentation of the challans.
