MPs Sant Seeche wal , Rinku issue instructions to remove encroachment in River; demand demarcation

JALANDHAR
Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Lok Sabha Member Sushil Kumar Rinku assured the people of the flood-affected areas that there were clear instructions from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan that the illegal enchantment in river Satluj and on Dhusi Bandh will not be tolerated.

The people of the flood-affected areas today met  MPs Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Sushul Rinku to order the demarcation of the Sutlej River besides building a road from Giddarpindi to Phillaur on Dhusi Bandh having 80 KM length.

The people of the area eloquently raised the demand that the illegal encroachments in the river should be removed in the same way as the Panchayat department has been removing the illegal encroachments from government land.

Meanwhile, the ongoing series of Sri Akhand Path Sahib at village Gatta Mundi Kasu culminated today with a thanksgiving ceremony. Earlier, around 550 people were honoured for their contribution to rescue operations during floods.

Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal said that Dhusi Bandh is about 80 km from Giddarpindi to Phillaur and approximately Rs. 118 crores to be spent to build this road. Sant Seechewal reiterated his commitment to building a road here.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Sushil Rinku said that illegal encroachments inside the river will not be tolerated at any cost. He said that because of those who are in illegal possession, the crops of thousands of farmers outside the catchment area of the river are ruined and their lives are also in danger.  He directed SDM Shahkot to accord top priority to removing illegal encroachments.
