Woman among three members of family booked for assaulting police officer

The Bilga police have booked three members of a family including a woman on the charge of assaulting a police officer.

Investigating Officer (IO) Avtar Lal said that the accused have been identified as Manpreet Singh alias Ramna son of Resham Singha resident of Kadian village, his brother Manjinder Singh alias Ramana, and his mother Sarabjit Kaur.

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Gurdev Singh a resident of Bhadma village under Shahkot police station said in his statement that the police party went to arrest Manpreet Singh in a case of assault registered in 2020. He said in his statement that when the police reached the home of the accused his brother Manjinder Singh alias Ramna attacked him with a sword and injured him and their mother Sarabjit Kaur helped his son Ramna to flee.

 

IO said that a case under section 307(attempt to murder),186(obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 333(voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty),353(assault or use of criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty  )224,225( resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension.) 324(voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapons or means ) 506(criminal intimidation ) and 34 (committing a crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused.  No arrests have been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
