Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Vishesh Sarangal on Thursday underscored the need for channeling the unbounded energy of youth in a positive direction to make them partners in the socio-economic growth of the country and the state.
The deputy commissioner on Thursday inaugurated the Utkansh 2024 festival on the premises of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology in a spectacular ceremony. The event kicked off with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the Chief Guest's formal declaration, and a heartwarming token of love extended to Mr. Sarangal.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner underscored that the abundant energy of the youth needs to be harnessed for the betterment of the country, for which such youth festivals could play an important role.
Mr. Sarangal further said cultural festivals could play a pivotal role in grooming youth for various activities in music, dance, theatre, and others at national and international arenas. He pointed out that the hardworking Punjabi youth have been known across the globe for their enterprising skill, resilience, and acumen for a long. He said that it was why the Punjabi youth have made enormous contributions towards the socio-economic development not only in their state, and country but also globally. He urged the students to work hard immensely during this phase of life for a better future to make their parents and the entire state proud of their success.
Director NIT Prof Binod Kumar Kanaujia apprised the deputy commissioner about this annual event. He mentioned that “UTKANSH”, is the annual cultural festival of NIT Jalandhar, recognized as one of the greatest cultural festivals of North India. The fest is an amalgamation of music, dance, drama, comedy, etc. The cultural events include fine art exhibitions, photography exhibitions, bhangra fiesta, dance competitions, music competitions, literary, debate events, dramatics performances, and many more during the time, along with mega night events like Rock band performances, fashion shows, BDM Night, and Star night.
