Area residents have demanded from the Punjab Chief Minister to remove encroachment on the approach road to historic Nurmahal Sarai.
Dilbag Singh a resident of Baina Pur village and a social activist in a representation to Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the management of Doaba Arya School in active collusion with officials of the civic body has encroached a big portion of the approach road and has raised a six inches high platform and installed its board and using it as cycle/motorcycle stand.
Representation said that this approach road is the old Sher Shah Suri(GT Road) road from Agra to Lahore and is the property of Zila Parishad as per the revenue record.
Dilbag Singh said in his representation that this encroachment should be removed at the earliest adding that he had asked the Nurmahal Nagar council president and executive officer and ADC (UD), director of local bodies, Zila Parishad to remove the encroachment but to no avail.
He said that if no action is taken on his representation, he would file a civil writ petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
