Resentment prevails among residents against the failure of district police authorities to provide proper security at the local civil hospital. They said opiate therapy centre in civil hospital is increasingly becoming a source of nuisance for the town as well as medical authorities.
Senior medical officer Sanjiv Kumar said more than one thousand drug addicts daily visit therapy centre for doses, and they create law and order problems. He said that he had requested city police to provide adequate police security but to no avail.
Police station munshi said the station house officer had written to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police to provide permanent police guards (five personnel) from police lines at the civil hospital which was rejected. He said that city police are providing security.
