DC meets farmers at villages; hails efforts to ensure zero stubble burning

JALANDHAR
Deputy commissioner. Vishesh Sarangal has urged the farmers to follow the path shown by farmers of villages Kapoor and Hazara by ensuring zero stubble burning in the previous paddy season.

Today while visiting these villages, the Deputy commissioner meets the farmers who adopt the latest techniques and machinery given by the Punjab Government on subsidies for stubble management in fields instead of burning in fields.

Mr. Sarangal said that the farmers of Punjab always lead the nation by making the country self-reliant in food grains and now it’s high time for them to also set an example by shunning the stubble burning to save the environment.

Terming stubble management an important issue to maintain soil health, the Deputy commissioner also asked the officials of the agriculture department to award the farmers who went the extra mile to avoid stubble burning.

Taking part in the conversation, farmers said that with the use of new machinery for stubble management, per acre yield also increased besides curtailing the use of fertilizer in fields.,
