Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today reviewed the draft report of the sub-committee on the Nurmahal Sewerage issue as directed by the Estimate Committee of Punjab Vidhan Sabha wherein he issued the directions to the officials concerned to submit a detailed report in the given time frame.
Chairing a review meeting here at the district administrative complex, the deputy commissioner said that the Estimate Committee of the Vidhan Sabha had constituted a sub-committee to conduct a joint survey on the issue of the sewerage system in Nurmahal and working of sewage treatment plant (STP).
Following the directions, the sub-committee has conducted a joint survey on this issue and a report has been prepared in this regard.
The DC further mentioned that the report has been reviewed by the sub-committee members and necessary directions have been issued to the sub-committee to submit the report in the given time frame to the office of the Deputy commissioner so that it can further be submitted to the Estimate Committee well in time.
Prominent others present in the meeting included CA GLADA Sandeep Rishi, Executive Engineer PWSSB Jatin Vasudeva, SDO Sandeep Sharma, and Yadwinder Singh from the Public Health Department, among others.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Rs. 24.42 crore project approved and
started for laying sewerage lines in Nurmahal has instead become a
headache for its residents.
The project started by the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority
(Glada) and allotted to private agencies has not been completed even after 14 years. As per
schedule project was to be completed in nine months.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had laid the foundation of the
project on February 11, 2011.
Under the scheme, the main sewerage lines are 6 KM in length, and the branch lines 31 KM in length were to be laid down in the entire town for the drainage of the sewerage to one place.
