The Shahkot police have arrested four thieves on the charge of stealing a coin box from a temple.
Investigating officer (IO) Lakhvir Singh said that the accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi son of Paramjit, Kuldeep Singh alias Jagga son of Lehmabar Singh all residents of Bahmannia village, and Vishal Preet alias Vishu son of Lakhvir Ra, a resident of Kotli Gajran village.
Rajiv Gupta president of the temple committee of Dera Murli Dass Shiv Mandir near Danna Mandi Shahkot complained to the police that the accused barged into the temple on January 28 night and decamped away with a cion box containing offerings.
IO said a case under sections 457 (lurking house-trespass) and 380(theft in dwelling house) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
