Undertrial escapes from police custody from court complex

 

 NAKODAR

 An under-trial arrested under section 138 of the Negotiable Act escaped from police custody on January 19 while being taken to judicial custody from a court complex.  

Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Prem Chand working at Naib Court in Nakodar court complex recorded his statement in the police station that the accused Rannjit Singh alias Saabi son of Madan Lal a resident of Nangal Ambian village under Shahkot police station had surrendered in the court on January 19 in a complaint case filed by the Punjab Grameen Bank.

ASI said in his statement that judicial magistrate First Class Doctor Jubli has ordered that the accused be sent to judicial custody till February 2.

ASI said that the accused was in lock up (Bakshi khana ) in the judicial court complex and was being taken out but the accused pushed him to free himself and ran away he tried his best to catch the accused but could not succeed.

Investigating officer Hans Raj said that a case under section 224(obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) of the IPC has been registered against Saabi and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the absconding accused.
