Tableaux displaying the rich and glorious history of the state today received a rousing reception in the city as people showered flowers on them at various points in the city.
These tableaux entered the city via Shri Guru Ravidass Chowk, then reached Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chowk, and finally halted at Shri Ram Chowk outside Municipal Corporation premises where a large no of people especially the women and children witnessed the legacy of Punjab and its contribution in the freedom struggle.
These tableaus include portrayer of Jallianwala Bagh incident, Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Shaheed Udham Singh, Baba Sohan Singh Bhakna, Lala Lajpat Rai, Shaheed Sukhdev, Lala Hardiyal, Sardar Ajit Singh, Baba Kharak Singh, Madan Lal Dhingra, Dr. Diwan Singh Kalepani besides other great personalities.
Similarly, through the second tableau, a life-size statue of Mai Bhago – the great Sikh woman warrior was displayed to further emphasize women empowerment. Likewise, Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls has displayed portraits of successful girls who have earned fame in various fields. Similarly, through the third tableau, a glimpse of the rich heritage and civilization of Punjab has been presented.
Along with a large number of people, Member of Parliament Sushil Kumar Rinku welcomed these tableaux upon their arrival in the city at the local Nakodar Chowk.
Addressing the gathering, the MP said that Punjab is a land of people who made maximum sacrifices besides making the country self-reliant in food security and its tableaux must be included in the parade.
He also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for displaying these tableaux throughout the state so that the people should also get to know the rich culture and legacy of Punjabis.
After seeing these tableaux, people thanked the Punjab Government as they got a glimpse of the great glorious history of Punjab, the contribution of Punjabis in the freedom struggle, and women's empowerment.
They also stated that this effort will prove to be a milestone in making our youth aware of the rich heritage of Punjab and the role of Punjabis in the freedom struggle.
