Restoring the Youth' Pan India Campaign for identifying juveniles in prisons and rendering legal assistance-2024 launched by District Legal Services Authority, Jalandhar in Central Jail, Kapurthala.
Baljinder Singh Maan, Secretary, DLSA, Jalandhar organized an orientation program for Legal Aid Defence Counsels who will visit the Central Jail, Kapurthala to carry out the campaign.
Legal Aid Défense Counsels were apprised of the aim of the campaign that no minor should be in Jail rather every child in conflict with the law must be lodged in a childcare/observation home.
The object of the campaign is the identification of all the persons in prisons who claim to be minors (under trial or convicts) on the date of occurrence, who appear to be minors, and whose applications for the claim of juvenility are pending or not filed and persons who were aged between 18 to 22 years as per prison record on the date of admission, for screening to identify potential minors on the date of occurrence of the offense.
Harnek Singh, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Ms. Muskan Sharma, and Ms. Arpana, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel organized an awareness program in Central Jail Kapurthala on Juvenile Justice Law for prisoners.
