To inspire the voters to be a part of the world's largest democracy, a district-level event will be held at HMV College on January 25, to mark National Voters' Day.
Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Vishesh Sarangal said that on the occasion of this district-level Voters' Day, newly registered voters will be given voter ID cards with photographs.
He also said that on the occasion of Voters' Day, different educational institutions of the district were conducting activities including essay writing, poster, and slogan making, speech, rangoli making, drama, etc. among the students regarding voter participation in democracy and election activities. Students who secure first, second, and third positions will be honored during the district-level event.
The Deputy Commissioner further said that the District Education Officer (Secondary) has also been directed to conduct an essay writing competition among the students of the schools, the first three winners of which will be awarded during the district-level function.
He said that apart from the district-level National Voters' Day, various celebrations will also be held at the booth level in every booth of the assembly constituencies across the district.
He appealed to all the educational institutions of the district to encourage eligible students to register as voters for the strengthening of democracy and to make them aware of the importance of voting rights.
District Guidance Counsellor-cum-Assistant Nodal Officer for Sveep has been appointed the Nodal Officer for the district-level event.
He also asked the officials of the respective departments that all the necessary arrangements regarding the district-level event should be completed on time so that this event could be celebrated smoothly.
