DC holds deliberations with industrialists on new skill training courses




JALANDHAR
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday held detailed discussions with the top industrialists of the district on meeting their requirement for skilled manpower.

Chairing a brainstorming meeting with the officials from DBEE, District Industry Centre, Labour, ITIs colleges, and industrialists, the Deputy Commissioner said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed to empowering the youth by imparting industry-relevant skill training for enhancing their employability.

He said that with the changing scenario in the industry, there is a need to prepare the workforce accordingly and this can be fulfilled with the active support of the industrialists.

He added that Jalandhar is known as the hub of manufacturing sports goods, leather goods, hand tools, pipe fitting, and many more and these industries have several kinds of jobs.

The representatives of the Industrial Focal Point Association, Punjab Leather Federation, Hardware Manufacturing, Sports, Toys Manufacturers, Bus body Manufacturers, Plywood, MSME, Hand Tools, Metals, and others gave their suggestions to introduce several courses including Artificial Assistant based as per QP, boiler operators, stitcher, x-ray technicians, multi-skill technician, Graphing designer, Machine operator, General duty assistant, Human Resource, Digital Marketing, Forging, Fashion Designing, Printing, Fitter, Home Health Aid and others.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the administration would send a detailed report to the government in this regard following which the courses will be started in the Skill Development Centres, ITIs, and others. He said that these programs would be designed to equip the workforce with the knowledge and skills.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included ADC (G) Major Dr. Amit Mahajan, Professor Monika Aggarwal, Assistant Professor Dr Manu Sharma, and others.
