The Bilga police have arrested a person for illegal sand mining.
Investigating officer (IO) Satpal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Jang Sher Singh a resident of Kala Sanghian Road near a marriage palace.
Junior Engineer cum mining officer of Bist Doad Jalandhar complained to the police that the accused was indulging in illegal sand mining from Sutlej River using a JCB machine.
IO said a case under section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act and sections 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offenses punishable with imprisonment) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and impounded a JCB machine.
