The Criminal Investigating Agency (CIA) of the Jalandhar (rural) police has arrested the head of an inter-district gangster gang indulging in highway robberies and snatching.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar said that the accused has been identified as Ajay Pal Singh alias Ajay son of Sawinder Singh a resident of Lahori Mal village under Gharinda police station Amritsar.
Bhullar said that 400 grams of heroin, one country-made pistol (.30 bore),2 magazines, three live cartridges (.30 bore), an iPhone, a gold chain, two snatched vehicles and one motorcycle from his possession, and a case under section 21-C/61/85 of the NDPS Act and sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused at Aadam Pur police station.
SSP said the accused told the police during interrogation that his gang uses snatched vehicles for supplying drugs in Punjab and eight cases under different sections of the IPC are pending against Ajay.
