Mobile van to spread awareness among voters about EVMs

 Following the directions issued by the Chief Electoral Officer Punjab, SVEEP mobile vans have been launched in the district which will cover all assembly constituencies of the district till January 21, 2024.

These awareness vans will reach out to voters to spread awareness among them about their right to franchise besides the functioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
 
District Election Officer-Cum-Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that this van will go to different areas of Jalandhar district.  The main objective of this sweep van is to increase awareness among the public about the right to vote and the functioning of voting machines. 
 
He further mentioned that a voting machine has also been kept in this mobile van so that the voters can be given information regarding the use of the voting machine and its working style.  A route plan had already been prepared for this Sweep mobile van so that maximum awareness could be spread among the masses.
 
Divulging more, the Deputy Commissioner said that on January 16, this mobile van will areas comprising railway station, Doaba Chowk, Devi Talab Mandir, Adda Hoshiarpur, DMSD School, Kali Mata Mandir, Leader Factory, Under Bridge, Gopal Nagar, Dana Mandi, Mehar Chand Polytechnic College, Daviet College in Jalandhar North Constituency. Afterwards, this van will move to Jalandhar West Constituency covering areas including Model House, Camp Bastians, and Shri Guru Ravidas Chowk.
 
On January 17, the van will cover locations falling in Adampur Constituency including Bhogpur, Nangal Salala, Pandori Kathar, Droli Kandola, Khurdpur and and areas of Kartarpur constituency comprising Bidhipur, Beas village, Kartarpur Sudana, Alampur, Ali Khera, Ambgarh, Kartarpur town.
 
Likewise, the van will visit Jalandhar Cantt on January 18, wherein it will cover areas including Sansarpur, Dhina, Jamsher, Diwali, Samrai, and Jandiala. On January 19, the mobile van will go to Phillaur assembly constituency to cover areas Goraya, Bara Village, Daleta, Chak Des Raj, Garhi Maha Singh, Virk, Ghurka, Sang Dhesian, Roorka, Boparai, while on January 20, the mobile van will spread awareness in Nakodar Assembly Constituency including Nakodar town, Noormahal, Jandiala, Bilga, Sarinh, Shankar, Gohiran, and Kapurthala Road in Nakodar.
 
On January 21, the van will conduct a tour in Shahkot assembly constituency wherein it will cover areas including Dhandowal, Nangal Ambian, Kaniya Kalan, Parjian, Bulandpuri, Udhowal, Shahpur, and Sangowal. 
 
The DC appealed to the people to get information about the functioning of the voting machines by polling their dummy votes in the voting machine present in this Sveep mobile van.
