The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested three members of the family including a woman on the charge of attempting to murder, firing, and rioting.
Investigating officer (IO)Lovleen Kumar said that the accused have been identified as Harcharan Singh son of Dalip Singh a resident of Model Town, Hoshiar Pur, his son Parminder Singh, and daughter-in-law Lovleen Kaur.
Harnek Singh a Canada-based NRI and native of Chak Kalan village had complained to the police that the accused riding a motorcycle attacked him with a firearm to kill and seriously injured him on September 3, 2023 night near Shankar Pulli when he was returning home in his vehicle.
IO said a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) and 148 and 149(rioting) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused and three accused are still absconding.
