The Shahkot police have unidentified accused on the charge of smuggling cows.
Avtar Singh son of Simranjit Singh a resident of Matta Wala Veharra, Akal Sar Road Moga complained to the police that he was crossing Kawan Wala Patann on January 12 when he noticed a truck number (JK—02-AR-3144) on which 13 cows and its progeny were loaded for slaughtering purpose and was heading towards Kashmir.
Investigating Officer Kashmir Singh said that 13 cows and their progeny had been rescued from a truck that had been impounded and a case under section 295-A(deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 3,4A,4B,8 of the Punjab Prohibition of Cow Slaughter Act-1955 and section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act has been registered against unidentified accused.
