Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday celebrated the festival of Loharri with children in Nikku Park, Model Town.
Sarangal who spent an hour with kids, handed over sweets, and peanuts to them and spoke about their schooling. He said that it was the traditional festival celebrated in every nook and corner of Punjab.
The Deputy Commissioner said that keeping in view the immense significance of this festival, he decided to personally share the joy of the festival with these kids. He said that he had been celebrating the important festivals with the kids as it gives him immense satisfaction to join them on such occasions.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner also lit a bonfire and traditionally performed Lohri celebrations. He also lauded the Red Cross Society and NGO Animal Protection Foundation for organizing the event.
The children were brought to the Nikku Park in the vehicles and later were dropped. The children were also offered free-of-cost swings in the park.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Red Cross Secretary Inder Dev Singh Minhas, Jaspreet Kaur, JV Singh, and others.
