GRIP GRASSROOTS INNOVATORS OF PUNJAB PROGRAM 2.0 WORKSHOP IGNITES INNOVATION IN FARIDKOT

  In a significant stride towards harnessing grassroots innovations for addressing fundamental human needs, the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST) orchestrated the GRIP 2.0 workshop today at the Ashok Chakra Hall, Faridkot. Under the esteemed chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sh. Vineet Kumar IAS, the event aimed at propelling awareness and engagement in the district.

A 4-member committee, headed by the GMDIC as the nodal officer, along with officials from PD ATMA, PPCB, and the Department of Animal Husbandry as assistant nodal officers, has been established to facilitate the effective implementation of the program in the district.

Sh.Sukhminder Singh Rekhi, General Manager, DIC highlighted the pioneering role of the council in bolstering grassroots innovations. Innovators from diverse backgrounds, including farmers, artisans, students, enterprises, or individuals, are invited to submit their applications for GRIP 2.0 until January 31, 2024.

Dr. Alkesh Kandoria, PSCST Official, emphasized that grassroots innovations enhancing process efficiency, reducing labor costs, and improving productivity are particularly sought after. The program offers value addition, business mentorship, IP protection, and a national-level showcase for selected innovators, with prizes awarded for exemplary contributions.

Dr. Kandoria also shared insights into the successful innovations from GRIP 1.0, facilitated by the state government. The workshop witnessed the participation of officials from various departments, including agriculture, ATMA, PPCB, Horticulture, DBEE, and the Deputy Director of Dairy, as well as career counselors from the Education Department, totaling around 100 stakeholders.

As the workshop concluded, stakeholders were encouraged to submit their applications, with Dr. Alkesh assuring unwavering support throughout the process.
