Gurlal Singh son of Malkit Singh, a resident of Tibbi Sahib road Jaitu was booked under section 353 of IPC(Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) besides 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions)on the complaint of Balraj Singh, in charge of traffic cell Jaitu.
Balraj Singh has alleged that while he was on his duty in the town, Gurlal Singh stopped his Rerhri without any registration plate on the road and tried to stop the flow of the traffic.
“He manhandled me and also tore my uniform when I tried to persuade him for not doing so,” reads the complaint made by ASI Balraj Singh.
The accused has been arrested from the spot.
However it is very strange how a poor motorcyle rehri wala dared to assault cop while the Punjab police is allegedly known for his custofial torture and implicating the innocents in false cases.
The traffic in charge was also accompanied by a head constable also.
