DC felicitates four for winning medals in national games




JALANDHAR
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Thursday felicitated four badminton players for winning medals in various national events and bringing laurels to the district.

A cheque of Rs 31000 has been handed over to Manya Ralhan while other players including Samridhi, Liza Tank, and Abhinav Thakur got the cheque of Rs 21000. These players belong to the Jalandhar and have won medals in the National Games in Goa, the National Badminton Championship in Guwahati, and the National School Games in 2023.

Congratulating the players for their achievements, Deputy Commissioner who is also president of District Badminton Association (DBA), said that these players had made the state in general and the district in particular proud by bagging medals in the national sports events.

He said that the DBA would set up a corpus fund to provide financial support to the players whenever they have to go outside the district and state to participate in any competition or championship.

He said that industrialists and NRIs or others would be requested to support DBA under CSR activities by contributing generously in this corpus fund.
Sarangal also motivated the players to continue to work hard to further excel in the game and assured all help in terms of better training facilities to them.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included DBA’s interim committee chairman SDM Dr Jai Inder Singh, District Badminton Association Secretary Ritin Khanna, Treasurer Palwinder Singh, and others.
