Two arrested, truck seized for illegally trafficking cows for slaughtering

Two persons, both residents of Uttar Pradesh were arrested and the truck they had been illegally transporting cows for slaughtering has been seized by Kotkpaura police last night.
The police have booked Imtiaz Ahmad and Irshad Gujjar on the complaint of Mahant Gharib Dass who is the caretaker of Apna Ghar old age home in Kotkpaura.
The case has been register against the two by name bedsides 5 others unidentified at city police station Kotkapura under section 295A,3 and $ A,4 C,8 D of Punjab prevention of cow slaughtering act 1955 besides prevention of cruelty to the animals act 1960.
The complainant has said that he was informed by some sources that a truck was heading towards Kotkapura on National Highway 15 and was suspected to transport about 15 to 20 cows to Kashmir.
The animals were stuffed and were kept under cruel situations. They were covered under Tripoline.
"we intercepted the truck at midnight near a Dhaba in Kotkpaura and when the search was carried out, the suspect was found to be true. A car was also allegedly driving about 2 kilometers ahead of the truck to alert it of any problem. The two persons nabbed on the spot while some escaped in the garb of darkness," Gharib Das told the locals reporters.
The animals found in the truck were shifted to a Cowshed in village Bir Sikhan Wala.
