Presenting its annual report card, Faridkot police have claimed to have solved almost all cases of murder, thefts and others besides the seizure and destruction(Talaf) of  a large quantity of drugs in year 2023.
"The police had registered 6 cases of murder and 5 have been solved and accused arrested. Only one case of murder is yet to be cracked. Apart from it, the police had registered 153 cases of theft and it has solved about 162 including 9 cases pending from the year 2022," said Harjeet Singh,SSP Faridkot in a press release to the media today.
"The district police have destroyed(Talaf Karna) about 26 kg of poppy husk,2.5 kg of Heroin,146600 intoxicant tablets,14481 capsules,58 kg of Opium, about 3.700 grams of intoxicant powder,,127 Kg Bhang(Marijuana) and 440 grams of Chars in 292 cases registered under NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances act in the outgoing year," claimed Harjeet Singh,SSP Faridkot.
He further said that the police had registered 193 new cases under NDPS act including 16 commercials and 32 accused had been arrested in these cases.
"During the search operations in modern jail Farikot,police recovered a large number of mobiles and challans in 123 cases have been filed in the courts. The police also returned 130 stolen hand sets to their owners after their recovery,' said the SSP.
He said that the police also registered 14 cases of threat calls and extortion and all the accused have been traced in those.
"We are dedicated to eradicate the drugs out of the district as per the instructions of the Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Punjab Gaurav Yadav. The police also started an awareness drive titling"Umeed" in the district and 5 kms marathon was also conducted in this regarding. We try our best to give the best policing to the people of the district and I also appeal to them to fully cooperate with the police to reach the concluding end in controlling the drugs," the SSP said.
"
He said that the police was fully prepared to make the lives of the people secure and nobody would be spared in case of the negligence of duty.
It is pertinent to mention that the businessmen from Kotkapura had shut the town out of the protest alleging that Kotkapura police had failed to protect the locals and incidents of snatching and other crimes had risen sharply in the town.
