The Shahkot police have arrested a local resident on the charge of violating the Property Regulation Act.
Investigating officer (IO) Parminder Singh said that the accused has been identified as Madan Lal son of Bihari Lal a resident of Model Town, Shahkot.
The executive Officer of Shahkot Nagar Panchayat had complained to the police that the Additional Deputy Commissioner (urban development) had ordered that action should be taken against unauthorized colonizers and legal action be taken against erring property dealers.
IO said that a case under section 36(1) of the Punjab Apartment and Property Act 1996 was registered against the accused and Jugraj Singh son of Jagjit Singh a resident of Kot Esse Khan, Dharam Kot Road in Moga (proprietor of Ma Chint Purani Promoter and Development Private Limited). who is absconding
