The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested a Hoshiar Pur villager on the charge of attempting to murder, firing, and rioting.
Investigating officer (IO)Lovleen Kumar said that the accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh son of Harcharan Singh a resident of Model Town, Hoshiar Purr
, his two sons Gurpreet Singh and Parminder Singh, and daughter-in-law Lovleen Kaur and their two unidentified accomplices.
Harnek Singh a Canada-based NRI and native of Chak Kalan village had complained to the police that the accused riding a motorcycle attacked him with a firearm to kill and seriously injured him on September 3 night near Shankar Pulli when he was returning home in his vehicle.
IO said a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) and 148 and 149(rioting) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act was registered against the accused and his three family members.
