Illegal mining in Nurmahal villages; CMO directs secretary mining for inquiry.

 

NURMAHAL

Punjab Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on Friday directed the secretary mining department to inquire about allegations that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) activists and leaders were indulging in excavating sand illegally along the Sutlej in Nurmahal sub-tehsil areas.

CMO has forwarded two news reports to the secretary of mining in this regard.

Dilbag Singh a resident of Baina Pur village and social activist has sent to CMO two news reports published in the Tribune and Punjab tribune .com.

 News reports quoting a press release issued by SAD leader GurPartap Singh Wadala. have said that AAP leaders had been doing illegal sand mining for a very long time in Sango Wal village in Nurmahal sub-tehsil.

The former MLA has said in a press note the illegal mining is carried on during the day as well as at night and the area residents were very disturbed by it.

People involved in the illegal activity were using the slips of the government-approved mines of Dhagara village.

News reports said that “greedy persons” associated with AAP were forcibly excavating sand from the lands of poor farmers and making profits of crores of rupees. The small and poor farmers were not given anything in return, he said. The SAD leader has said in a press note that illegal sand mining was going on a large scale and 100 to 150 tippers and trolleys were being sold every day.

 

He has alleged that the rate of sand announced by the government had not been implemented as sand was being sold at premium prices.
