The Mehat Pur police have booked a travel agent for allegedly duping a Mehat Pur resident of Rs.12.46 on the pretext of sending his son abroad.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and investigating officer Narinder Singh Aujla said that the accused had been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Sonu son of Rachpal Singh a resident of Barra Salam village.
DSP said that Nirmal Singh a resident of Mohalla Kasba Mehat Pur complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 12.46 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son’s migration abroad. Still, he was not sent abroad and did not return the money.
DSP said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating)of the IPC, and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
