Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh and ADGP M F Farooqui, who also holds the post of administrator of the Punjab Waqf Board on Tuesday, handed over two burial vans, one each to Idgah and Mosque Committees of the district.
Accompanied by Punjab Waqf Board CEO Latif Ahmad, Singh said that this was a historic step taken by the Punjab Waqf Board to give burial vans. He said that these vans would help the people who face difficulties in carrying the body to the burial grounds which were situated far away from the city. He said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed to the welfare of the Muslim community and funds were being released for the development of all mosques and reservation of graveyards in the state.
Meanwhile, Mr. Farooqui said that a total of seven such vans would be given to the bigger cities of the state, and in the first phase, two vans were handed over today. He also spoke about the steps taken by the Punjab Waqf Board and said that the reforms were being brought regularly into the functioning of the Waqf Board.
Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included Estate Officer Shakeel Ahmed, Jameel Ahmed, Amzad Khan, Nayeem Khan, and others.
