The Nurmahal police have booked three persons including a school principal and his wife.
Investigating officer IO) Gursharan Singh said that the alleged accused have been identified as Anil Kumar son of Mohinder Pal a resident of Model Town Nurmahal, his wife Rajani Kant, and Gopi Munshi accountant of Jayoti Traders Mitharra grain market.
Gurdeep Singh a resident of Tagarr village complained to the Jalandhar(rural) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) that he is the chief editor of K-9 news Punjab and had sold 255 bags of paddy in October 2022 to Jayoti Traders Mitharra grain market. Still, it did not give him J-Farm but a simple slip and had promised to clear all accounts within one week but still no J-Fam was giving him the false promise and trying to cheat him and demanded an inquiry and action.
IO said the complaint was received at the police station and both parties were asked to come to the police station.
IO said that the complaint came and recorded his statement saying that he had had business relations with Anil Kumar for a long time who had sold his crop to government procuring agencies.
The complainant said in his statement that he had deposited signed cheques as security as demanded by them and used these cheques to withdraw money from his bank account without his knowledge and, a cheque was dishonoured adding that the accused issued a legal notice to him for cheating.
Gurdeep Singh said in his statement when he came to know about this, he tried to talk with the accused who refused to listen to him and threatened to register a criminal case against him. He said that the firm is registered only in the name of Rajni Kant
IO said the opposing party came to the police station but failed to present their viewpoint and a report was sought from the market committee Nurmahal.
IO said that as per the complainant's statement and report of the market committee Anil Kumar his wife Rajni Kant and Gopu Munim accountant of Jayoti Traders Mitharra grain market have cheated Gurdeep Singh.
IO said that a case under sections 419(cheating by personation) and 420(cheating) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and further investigations are on.
It is pertinent to mention that Anil Kumar is the principal of a local private school who has registered a case against Gurdeep Singh recently on the charge of defaming him.
