Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Wednesday said that the work on 28 model fair price shops had been completed in the district and asked the officials of Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs and Rural Development and Panchayats departments to expedite the completion of remaining shops by December 31.
Accompanied by ADC (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, Sarangal assessed the preparations for opening shops.
Sarangal said that the model fair price shops would be operated by Markfed. He said that these model fair price shops would be established on an area of 200 square meters where Markfed would also sell its products in addition to supplying the ration to the beneficiaries of the Smart Cards.
Sarangal said that work of model fair price shops had been over in CMS Goraya, CMS Nakodar, Chomon, Jandiala, Sarhali, Dhandwar, Brahmpur, Dyalpur, Hazara, Raipur Rasulpur, Mandiala, Mehsampur, Haripur, Umranwal Billan, Khokhewal, Sanghewal Khalsa, Mau Sahib, Moron, Tehang, Killi and Sindhar and other places.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of adhering to stringent quality standards and called upon the concerned officers to mobilize resources efficiently for timely completion.
