Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Tuesday directed the officers to prepare error-free voter lists as the district administration has initiated the process for preparation of electoral rolls at the gram panchayat level.
In a meeting with officers in the district administrative complex, Sarangal said that electoral rolls were to be prepared concerning January 1, 2023, as the qualifying date in this regard.
He said that as per the programme announced preparation of Electoral Rolls made up to December 18, 2023, and draft publication of electoral rolls will be made on December 20, 2023.
He further said that claims and objections could be filed from December 21 to 29 and all objections and claims would be disposed of by January 5, 2024. The date of final publication of electoral rolls is January 07, 2023, he added.
The Deputy Commissioner underlined the need for inclusive, error-free, and authenticated electoral rolls and said that the administration was committed to transparent and fair panchayat elections.
He also asked the people especially the youth to register themselves as voters to ensure their maximum participation in the electoral process to strengthen democracy.
