The Bilga police have arrested a proclaimed offender on the charge of non-appearing in court.
Station house officer (SHO) Aman Sainni said that the accused has been identified as Satnam Singh alias Satti son of Jeet Singh a resident of Burj Hassan village.
SHO said that Phillaur judicial magistrate first class Minkashi Gupta had ordered that the accused had been declared a proclaimed offender in a case under sections 61/1/ of the Excise Act and should be booked under section 174-A (Nonappearance in response to a proclamation under section 82 of Act 2 of 1974). SHO said a case was registered against the accused and further investigation is being conducted by assistant sub-inspector Dalwara Singh.
