Floral tributes were paid to the war heroes, martyrs, and soldiers who had laid their lives defending the integrity of the nation in a function held to commemorate the Armed Forces Flag Day at Punjab State War Memorial on Thursday.
A spokesperson of the District Defense Services Welfare Department said that it was a solemn occasion to pay respect to the brave soldiers, war heroes and martyrs for their heroic deeds. He said that the Armed Forces Flag Day had been observed annually on December 7, 1949, and the day serves as a tribute to the martyrs and the brave men in uniform who valiantly defend our borders, preserving the honour of our nation.
The residents of the district were also urged to contribute voluntarily as it was a humble contribution and token of respect towards the services rendered by our brave soldiers who guard our borders around the clock.
