The Bilga police have booked an ex-councillor of Nagar Panchayat on the charge of outraging women’s modesty.
Investigating Officer (IO) Anwar Masih said that the accused has been identified as Narinder Kumar alias Pammi son of Gurmit Ram a resident of Pati Bhatti, Bilga village.
The victim complained to the police that she was going to the bazaar to purchase household goods on November 3 when the accused asked her to listen to his talk and she trusted him being an ex-councillor and entered his house.
The complainant said that the accused immediately locked his room and tore her clothes with the intention to physically touch her and tried to forcibly lay her on the bed, but she resisted all efforts of the accused who then assaulted her, and she somehow managed to run away.
IO said that a case under sections 354 (criminal force to woman intended to outrage her modesty) 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe ) 342(wrongful confinement ) and 323(voluntarily causing hurt ) of the IPC has been registered against the accused. No arrest has been made and raids are being conducted to nab him.
