NAKODAR
Jalandhar deputy commissioner cum district collector Vishesh Sarangal has suspended a Nakodar village Nambardar on the charge of burning his paddy stubble fields.
An official press note said that the suspended Nambardar has been identified as Sarabjit Singh a resident of Sehowal village.
The press note said that the Supreme Court and the Punjab Government have enforced a ban on stubble burning after the paddy harvesting season and have ordered strict action against violators.
It is said that Nambardar Sarabjit Singh’s primary responsibility was to educate other farmers about refraining from stubble burning as per the directives issued by the Supreme Court and the Punjab Government. However, he disregarded these instructions and personally set fire to the stubble in his field.
The press note said Sarabjit Singh has been fined Rs 5000 and has been asked to appear in person on November 28 to submit his explanation.
