Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh on Friday said that the Punjab government was committed to the complete transformation of the health sector and working to realize Lala Lajpat Rai’s dream of a healthy state.

Paying rich tribute to the legendary freedom fighter on his 95th Martyrdom day in local Gulab Devi Hospital, the Minister said that the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had opened 645 Aam Aadmi Clinics (AACs) in the state to provide free treatment to the people in close proximity to their residences. “Lala Lajpat Rai’s mother died of Tuberculosis following which he established a trust in his mother's memory to run a hospital for saving precious lives from deadly diseases at that time”. Following the footsteps of freedom fighters, the 'Sehatmand Punjab' program was launched to boost the health infrastructure of the government hospital to ensure ultra-modern medical facilities for the people.

He said that the government hospitals would be equipped with ICUs, trauma centers, neonatal intensive care units, and other facilities.

Singh also appealed to the people to make Yoga a routine part of life as it increases the strength of the body and peace of mind. He emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent non-communicable diseases and reduce stress-related problems.

He said that a healthy society was vital for a healthy state which was the foundation for a prosperous society. He also asked the youth to become ambassadors of a clean and green environment and take a pledge not to burst firecrackers on Gurpurab.

The Minister also urged the union government to give cash incentives to the farmers for managing the paddy stubble which will wipe out the stubble burning menace.

He also launched Ayurvedic and Panchkarma centers in the hospital and lauded the trust.
Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh and MP Sushil Kumar Rinku also paid tribute to legendary freedom fighter on 95th Martyrdom Day.
