Surveillance, Traffic Management Project to start in December -DC

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday said that the Surveillance and Traffic Management project would be ready by December 15 this year.

Chairman of the City Level Evaluation and Monitoring Committee (CLEMC), Deputy Commissioner along with MC Commissioner Rishi Pal Singh, Sarangal said that work of installing 1218 CCTV cameras at 188 locations was already underway in the city and these cameras will be connected with an integrated command and control center (ICCC).

Sarangal said that city surveillance, adaptive traffic control system & intelligent traffic management system, installation of variable message sign board, public address system, emergency call boxes, video management system, poles & junction boxes, air quality sensors, integrations, regional data center were the main part of the project. He said that city surveillance and traffic management systems would be further integrated with e-challan, Vahan, and other software that would help the police maintain law and order besides issuing e-challans for red light jumping, over-speeding, triple riding, and driving without helmets.

Sarangal also asked the officials from Smart City Limited to ensure the completion of this ambitious project well before and start trials before the formal start of the city.

The Officials from Smart City Limited informed the Deputy Commissioner that 44 projects worth Rs 171.76 crores have already been completed in Jalandhar and the remaining works are near completion under Smart City Mission.

Deputy commissioner also asked the MC officials to ensure the quality check of development works. He also made it clear that any compromise with the quality of work would not be tolerated. Besides that it was also ordered for third-party audit of works as the administration would adopt zero-tolerance policy against any kind of compromise in quality of work .

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also took stock of the projects including 24*7 Bulk surface water supply, Burlton Park sports hub, Solid Waste Management at Wariana through the Bio-mining project, Modernization of Mithapur hockey stadium, installation of GIS-linked QR code-based property UID number plates and its integration with Municipal services, construction of rooftop rainwater harvesting in government hospitals and ordered the officials to complete the projects within deadline.
