The Lohian Khas police have booked nine villagers including five women on the charges of murdering co-villagers.

Station House Officer (SHO) Yadwinder Singh said the deceased had been identified as Santokh Singh son of Munsha Singh a resident of Mianni village.

 SHO said that the accused have been identified as Gumail Singh son of Ajit Singh a resident of Mianni village, and his wife Sarabjit Kaur. Kulwant Singh son of Nirmal Singh, and his wife Bakhshish Kaur.Karnail Singh son of Nirmal Singh and his wife Mandeep Kaur, Manpreet Singh son of Lal Singh, and his mother Amarjit Kaur, and his wife Baljinder Kaur all residents of the same village.

Balwinder Kaur wife of the deceased complained to the police that her husband returned from Italy two months ago. She said her husband went to his fields on November 11 afternoon to sow mustard crops where the accused attacked her husband with sharp-edged weapons with the intention to kill.

Balwinder said she and her son reached there and tried to save her husband, but the accused attacked them also and fled away.

She said her son-in-law rushed his father-in-law to Jalandhar Hospital adding that a land issue in the reason behind the crime as her husband passed through the fields of the accused to his fields as there was no pathway.

 

SHO that Santokh Singh succumbed to his injuries in Jalandhar hospital on November 13 and a case under section 307 (attempt to murder)  323,324,325( voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 148 and 19(rioting ) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the accused and section 302(murder has been added in the FIR.
