13 cases of stubble burning registered by Faridkot police
Mostly unidentified farmers booked for ban on stubble burning.

Faridkot
Cracking the whip on the violators of the paddy stubble burning ban, the Faridkot police on Thursday registered at least 13 cases against the unidentified farmers.
The cases were registered on the complaints of the police officials who were on patrol or checking the fields to stop stubble burning.
Despite the subsidised machinery given the Punjab government, some farmers are still resorting to stubble burning allegedly due to the shortage of the stubble management machinery.
Harjeet Singh, Senior superintendent of police also sent police teams on an awareness drive to the farmers so that they can be dissuaded from stubble burning.

"ASI Rajinder Singh was on patrol near village Sarawan and the police party noted that a farmer had set his fields on fire after the harvesting of paddy. It was leading to environmental pollution. The police tried to find out about the name of the farmer from the passers by and others, but could not find the name and address of the farmer. It is a direct violation of the orders of the district magistrate passed under CrPC 144 and a case is being registered against the unidentified farmer under section 188 of IPC(Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).," reads the one of the police complaints.
