SDM conducts inspections at sweet shops to check adulteration

 Following the directions of Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal to check the sale of adulterated sweets and milk products in the ongoing festive season, Sub Divisional Magistrate Major Dr. Irwin Kaur carried out surprise checking at sweet shops in Nakodar.

The Sub Divisional Magistrate along with the Food Safety Team conducted checking at the sweet shops and their manufacturing units. She also checked the place of preparations of the sweets and asked the Food Safety team to take samples of the products.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that the checking of the shops would continue till Diwali and random sampling would be done to ensure hygienic and quality sweets to the people.

He said that the drive would instill a sense of confidence amongst the people that they are getting safe and healthy products. He further said that ensuring quality and hygienic food to people was the basic responsibility of the district administration and every step would be taken to ensure that people get pure food products.

Later, the Food Safety Team headed by Dr Sukhwinder Singh, Food Safety Officer Rashu Mahajan also issued a notice during the drive for unhygienic conditions and took four samples of various products including Khoya Barfi, cooking oil, Gulab Jamun, and milk cake.
