DC celebrates Diwali with specially-abled children, senior citizens

Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Thursday celebrated the festival of Diwali with the specially-able children of the Red Cross Deaf and Dumb School, Prayas School, and the elderly in a Senior Citizen home.

Mr. Sarangal spent two hours with the children and senior citizen and distributed gifts, sweets to them. He also joined the students in various activities to mark the auspicious occasion of Diwali. Besides that, the Deputy commissioner also handed over blankets to the senior citizens.

Extending Diwali wishes to them in the event, Sarangal said that Diwali was the festival of lights and celebrated across the country with religious fervour and zeal. “As we all celebrate Diwali with much fanfare, we must remember those having special needs and living in orphanages and old-age homes. Spending a few minutes with them and sharing festivities will bring a smile on their faces and double your celebrations”, said Sarangal and added that they are an integral part of the society.

Meanwhile, the Deputy commissioner reiterated the administration's commitment to providing the best possible help to these institutions and ensuring smooth functioning.
