"62 farmers have been fined in the district so far for burning the paddy stubble in violation of the directions of the National Green Tribunal and satellite vigil is being kept from 9 AM to 4 PM on the stubble burning incidents," said Vineet Kumar,DC Faridkot in a press note to the media today.
"The administration is very strict to check the stubble burning incidents in the district. Though most of the farmers are disposing off the paddy stubble by using the recommended and newly invented techniques by agriculture experts and engineers, yet some of the farmers are violating the directions of NGT and stealthily burning the stubble,"the DC said.
According to the deputy commissioner, the farmers are being fined  Rs 2500,5000 and 15000 per acre for the ownership of land less than 2.5, 5 and above 5 acres respectively.
Besides it, a red entry is being made in their revenue record, said the DC.
The DC further appealed to the farmers not to burn the stubble in their fields to avoid action and keep the air pollution under check.
What does the red entry mean?
"If there is a red entry in the revenue record of a farmer, he can not make any sale or purchase of that land,as no transfer of ownership can take place.Besides it,the farmer can not avail any loan on that land as it can not be mortgaged," said Vineet Kumar,DC Faridkot elaborating the impact of red entry in revenue record.
