Road construction projects worth Rs 4.30 crores inaugurated: Govt for improvement of roads; Balkar Singh

Local Bodies Minister Balkar Singh on Wednesday inaugurated road construction projects from the Garha railway crossing to PIMS and Kala Sangha road worth ₹4.30 crore in the city.

The stretch from Garha railway crossing to PIMS having a length of 0.75 km will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2.50 crore. This project also includes the construction of footpaths, road gullies, and others. The Kala Sangha Road having a length of around 2 km will be built at a cost of Rs 1.80 crore. These roads were excavated for laying pipes as part of the surface water project.

While kick-starting the works, Minister Balkar Singh said the state government had especially emphasized the improvement of the road network in the city. He directed the usage of quality materials in the construction of roads to ensure the durability of these stretches. He said that the authorities had been directed to get the works completed in the stipulated time.

The cabinet minister said the Punjab Government was working round the clock to meet the expectations of the people. He said that the state government was committed to boosting the infrastructure across the city for which projects worth crores are also being taken up.

The minister also said that a comprehensive plan has been prepared by the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation to make Jalandhar a smart and ultra-modern city in Punjab.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included AAP leader Surinder Singh Sodhi, MC Commissioner Rishi Pal Singh, and others.
