A “Run for Unity” to mark the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) to commemorate the 148th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was organized on 31st October 2023 at Jalandhar Cantonment under the aegis of Vajra Corps.
Before flagging off, Brig Sunil Sharma, Commander, 11Corps Arty Bde greeted everyone on National Unity Day and reiterated that the objective of the event was to make everyone aware of the importance of unity and harmony in the society. He also emphasized the contribution of Shri Vallabhbhai Patel also known as the “Iron Man of India” in the unification and integration of the nation, post-independence.
The Run for Unity was flagged off from the Vajra Nature Park at 0600Hr. The aim of this run was to foster the spirit of unity and nationalism among the citizens and to increase awareness about the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards national integrity and unity. The course of the run was 2.5 Km in which over 1500 defense personnel participated enthusiastically and displayed the incredible spirit of the Indian Army. Similar runs were organized at Amritsar and Ferozepur Cantt.
