No honking in residential areas between 10 pm and 6 am

 To end the noise pollution menace, the Commissionerate Police have prohibited the use of horns in residential areas at night between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. in its jurisdiction.
To ensure compliance with the order, DCP Ankur Gupta had passed orders under section 144 of CrPC. As per the orders, the DJ operators were instructed not to use DJs or sound amplifiers from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. The firecrackers’ noise level at the boundary of public places, where loudspeakers or public address system, or any other noise sources was being used should not exceed 10 dB (A) above the ambient noise standards for the area or 75 dB (A), whichever was lower. He said no one could beat a drum or tom-tom or blow a trumpet or any other instrument between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. except in public emergencies. Further, it was also ordered that the peripheral noise level of privately owned sound systems shall not exceed 7.5 dB (A). He said that if any violation of the orders was found, the sound instruments would be confiscated.
All these orders would remain in force till January 13, 2024.
