In order to protect the paddy crops that arrived in grain markets from rain, the district administration has made adequate arrangements for tarpaulins to keep the grain safe from the weather.
Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that in view of the expected inclement weather, the agencies had already provided tarpaulins in enough quantity to the grain markets to protect the crop. He said that due to rainy days, the arrival has also gone down in the markets.
He said that a total of 142884 MT paddy had arrived in the grain markets of the district of which 141031 MT had already been purchased besides clearing the payments worth Rs 276 crores to the peasants.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the administration was committed to ensuring a hassle-free and smooth procurement season and farmers will not face any kind of issue in selling their produce. He also appealed to farmers to bring dried crops into the grain markets.
