DC directs SDMs to visit “Hot spots“ to prevent stubble burning

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vishesh Sarangal on Saturday asked all the SDMs to visit in person at grass root level especially the Identified “Hot Spot “ areas in their respective jurisdictions to ensure a strong check on stubble burning in the district. He said that stubble burning cases would be monitored by ADC (G) on daily basis.

Presiding over the meeting in this regard here, Deputy Commissioner said that the SDMs must visit remote areas along with Agricultural Department officials to educate the farmers about the maximum use of agricultural implements being provided on subsidy.

It may be mentioned here that more than 5000 machines have been provided to the farmers on subsidy upto 80% for residue management in fields with an aim to curb air pollution besides saving the soil health.

Sarangal further said that 189 nodal officers and 54 cluster coordinators have already been appointed by the district administration to check stubble burning cases.

Reviewing the welfare schemes of Punjab Government, Deputy commissioner also directed officials to speed up the survey in the villages under the 'Mera Ghar Mere Naam' scheme.

A target has also been fixed to cover at least 10 villages every week under this scheme as drone survey have been completed in 581 villages of the district.

After the completion of drone survey, a door-to-door survey is to be conducted on the basis of the draft map.

ADC (Rural Development) and the District Revenue Officer have been asked to work in unison with other department officials to ensure the maximum benefit for needy ones.

Deputy Commissioner also directed that the disposal of mutation cases should be ensured in next 15 days.
